Fritillaria taipaiensis, belonging to the Fritillaria genus in the Liliaceae family, is a perennial herb under national second-class protection. It has lung-moistening, cough-relieving, phlegm-dissolving, and asthma-calming effects. Distributed in alpine meadows at elevations of 2,000 to 2,700 meters in Shennongjia, it is widely used for clinical conditions such as lung heat cough, dry cough, and lung yin deficiency. Its commodity has been used historically as a substitute for Fritillaria cirrhosa.
