From January 19th to 22nd, 2026, a severe cold wave swept across much of China. The Hubei province was blanketed in snow with freezing temperatures. Shennongjia, known as the "Roof of Central China," became a winter wonderland in southern China. In the core protected area around Shennongding, temperatures plummeted to below -10 degrees Celsius, with snow accumulation reaching several tens of centimeters; The Dajiuhu Wetland froze completely, and the entire wetland was covered in thick snow; golden monkeys huddled together for warmth in the bitter cold, with young monkeys shivering and clinging to their mothers.
This strong cold wave came rapidly and passed quickly. Three days later, Shennongjia woke up to clear skies and warm sunshine. In the midst of this fluctuating weather, we captured these unforgettable scenes.
