The Miniature Artificial Wetland

This micro-wetland is a supplement to the Dajiuhu Wetland Museum, for the integration of indoor and outdoor popular science education. Native plant species, including Typha domingensis, Menyanthes trifoliata, Acorus calamus, Sparganium simplex, Equisetum hyemale, Miscanthus sinensis, Juncus effuses, Polygonum macrophyllum, Spiraea japonica, Malus hupehensis and etc. are collected from the Dajiuhu Wetland and replanted here to build a miniature artificial wetland, and corresponding interpretation panels are installed.

The main water source of the micro-wetland is the natural precipitation collected by the old town's drainage system, and the domestic sewage from the museum and the staff dormitory. The ponds are distributed in a stepped series, which has the effect of stepped purification, and at the same time concentrates the display of a variety of plant species commonly seen in the wetland.
