Carabus lafossei

Carabus lafossei, a species of the genus Carabus in the family Carabidae, is a National Class II protected wildlife species endemic to China. The adult beetle measures 30-40 mm in length. Typically metallic green overall, with significant color variation, and occasionally exhibiting multiple color morphs. Primarily nocturnal, it preys on Lepidoptera, Diptera insects, and small mollusks. Carabus lafossei often inhabits areas under bricks, stones, leaf litter, loose soil, or dense weeds.
