Giant Laughingthrush (Garrulax maximus), belongs to the Garrulax genus in the Leiothrichidae family, and is a National Class II Protected wildlife species in China. A medium-to-large sized bird with a body length of 32-36 cm, it often moves in groups and frequently mixes with other laughingthrush species. It exhibits timid and secretive behavior, inhabiting subalpine and alpine forest shrublands and their edges. It feeds primarily on insects and insect larvae, but also consumes plant fruits and seeds. It is extremely rare in Shennongjia.
