Himantopus himantopus

Himantopus himantopus is a bird of the genus Himantopus, family Recurvirostridae, with a white belly and black back. It walks slowly, having a steady and light gait, and graceful posture, but appears awkward when running and in windy conditions. It is timid and alert, often nodding in protest when a disturber approaches.
