Shennongjia National Park: Participant of Sino-British National Park Conservation and Development Cooperation Workshop

The Sino-British National Park Conservation and Development Cooperation MOU Signing Ceremony & Workshop was held from November 28th to 30th in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. Hu Yu, Deputy Director of the Administration of Shennongjia National Park, attended the meeting.

The workshop was co-hosted by the British Consulate-General in Chongqing and the Giant Panda National Park. During the meeting, the Chengdu Branch of the Giant Panda National Park Administration signed the Memorandum of Understanding on National Park Conservation and Development Cooperation with the Lake District National Park and the Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park. Officials from the British Embassy in China and the Consulate-General in Chongqing, representatives from the Lake District National Park and the Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park, and experts from the Zoological Society of London attended the meeting. Shennongjia National Park and Fanjingshan Nature Reserve were also invited.

On the 29th, Hu Yu, on behalf of the Administration of Shennongjia National Park, made a presentation to introduce the general information of the Shennongjia National Park and played a promotional video. More than that, Hu Yu also had in-depth exchanges with British officials, national park representatives and experts present on issues such as national park conservation and management, community involvement, sustainable development and scientific research.

With a history of over 70 years in the development of national parks, the United Kingdom has accumulated rich experience in related construction and conservation management. Dominic McAllister, the British Consul-General in Wuhan, visited Shennongjia from November 6th to 8th, and invited Shennongjia National Park to participate in this workshop on behalf of the British Consulate-General in Chongqing. Relevant British officials in China observed that the substantial natural resources and conservation efforts of Shennongjia National Park are very impressive, and they were willing to actively build a bridge to promote the friendly exchanges and reciprocal cooperation between Shennongjia National Park and national parks of the United Kingdom.
