Shennongjia National Park Launches Official Bilingual Chinese-English Website

On May 18th, the bilingual website of Shennongjia National Park was officially launched. Chen Wubin, Deputy Director of the Hubei Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, Liu Qijun, Head of Shennongjia Forest District, and Zhou Yongbiao, Deputy General Manager of Hubei Culture and Tourism Group attended the launch ceremony and inaugurated the bilingual website, which provides information in both Chinese and English, for Shennongjia National Park.

The bilingual website of Shennongjia National Park  consists of a Chinese version (http://www.snjnationalpark.com/) and an English version (http://en.snjnationalpark.com/), main sections including Media, Resources, Protection, Education, Research, Community Co-construction, and Visual World with a total of 27 subcategories. The website offers a one-click language switch option between Chinese and English versions.

Shennongjia is renowned for being the first region in China with three UNESCO designations: Natural World Heritage, World Biosphere Reserve, and Global Geopark. It is also included in the List of Wetlands of International Importance and the IUCN Green List of Protected and Conserved Areas. The natural ecological value of Shennongjia is globally significant, typifying its representative and rare characteristics. Thus, preserving the natural ecology of Shennongjia is considered a historical mission. In July of last year, the Administration of Shennongjia National Park entrusted Special Focus of Hubei Daily Media Group and cnhubei.com to develop the bilingual website of Shennongjia National Park. During the development process, the project team drew inspiration from well-designed websites of prominent national parks both domestically and internationally, such as Yellowstone National Park in the United States and Hainan Tropical Rainforest National Park. The website features a concise, elegant, fresh, and green design, fully presenting the distinctive characteristics of Shennongjia in a clear and well-organized style to visitors worldwide.

According to the spokesperson of Shennongjia National Park, the construction of the bilingual website is a concrete practice of Shennongjia's in-depth study and implementation of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important discourse on enhancing and improving the capacity for international communication. The website serves as a significant showcase of the efforts to establish Shennongjia as an international benchmark for biodiversity conservation, a Chinese model for ecological civilization, and Hubei’s mode for harmonious coexistence between human and nature. Through a wealth of information, a distinct ecological perspective, and a unique international outlook, the website showcases the natural beauty, shares captivating stories of ecological conservation and highlights the achievements in the ecological civilization construction in Shennongjia to global visitors, contributing to the accelerated development of Shennongjia as a demonstration site for ecological civilization construction.
