In order to conduct a comprehensive three-year background resource survey of Shennongjia, nearly one hundred entomology experts and their graduate students from all over China gathered at Shennongjia National Park in early June of 2023. They have been meticulously surveying the insects inhabiting over 3,000 square kilometers of land here. During our visit to Shennongjia National Park, we had the privilege of meeting them. Though our encounter was brief, their unwavering dedication left us deeply impressed.
On December 10, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) announced new Green List sites in Montreal, Canada. Eleven protected areas from China received their certificates of IUCN Green List, including the Shennongjia National Park in the northwest of Hubei province.
The 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP15) is set to kick off in Kunming on Oct. 11. The meeting will review the "post-2020 global biodiversity framework" to draw a blueprint for biodiversity conservation in the future.
