Located in the northwest of Hubei Province with an area of 1,170 square kilometers, Shennongjia National Park is one of 14 key areas of international significance for biodiversity conservation and research in China, a gathering place of living fossils in the world and a sanctuary for ancient, rare and endemic species, and a world-class “natural museum” of geohistorical changes. As the “natural classroom of national education”, it has successively built a number of nature education bases, study-tour routes, popular science corridors and other natural environment education platforms, providing primary and secondary school students with the places to expand their horizons, enrich their knowledge, understand and experience the nature in different environments. In addition, it was awarded as a “Study-tour Destination of China”, “National Nature Education School”, “National Popular Science Education Base”, “Science Popularization Demonstration Base of Hubei Province” and “Study-tour Practice Education Base for Primary and Middle School Students in Hubei Province”.
