Torreya fargesii

Torreya fargesii is a national Class II key protected wild plant species of China, belonging to the Torreya genus in the Taxaceae family. This evergreen tree, a rare Tertiary relict endemic to China, serves as an excellent timber source, oil plant, and afforestation species for barren mountains. In Shennongjia, it inhabits mixed coniferous-broadleaf forests at elevations of 1,000--1,800 meters.
