Elongate loach (Leptobotia elongata), a species of the Leptobotia genus in the Cobitidae family, is a National Class II Protected wildlife species in China. It is one of the larger species in the Cobitidae family, with adults weighing around 1.5 kg. The elongate loach is a warm-water benthic carnivorous fish, primarily feeding on small fish, aquatic insects, shrimp, and large zooplankton. It prefers inhabiting gravel crevices in slow-flowing sections of mid-to-upper river reaches, often moving in groups among bottom gravel or rock fissures. During rising water levels, it exhibits an upstream migratory habit.
